A bit about me...

An Emmy award-winning director, Olexa has developed, directed and/or produced various animated television properties, focusing primarily on preschool content. After graduating RISD he began working as an animator at a boutique commercial studio in New York, Curious Pictures, animating on short form projects for a variety of clients: Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, IBM and Kellogg and MTV. Long form content was the next logical step - soon Olexa was a lead animator on Nickelodeon’s first in house preschool animation production, Blues Clues. Later Olexa moved onto projects at Nickelodeon, eventually serving as series director.

Subsequently Olexa joined the creative team developing Disney’s breakout hit Little Einsteins, serving as both creative and art director. He was intimately involved in developing the series concept, character designs and look of the show, working to combine 2D animation, 3D animation, live action footage, photo real locations and famous works of art into a cohesive series look.

Olexa subsuquently served as the co-executive producer and creative director for the PBS Kids’ Emmy award winning preschool series Word World, developing Word World for television; overseeing story, visual design, animation and post production. At the time Olexa also produced his own series pilot for Nick Jr. - Lolly and the Pipsqueaks.

Olexa moved on to creating content for hand held devices, working on the initial development of Tiggly, the award winning digital ipad toy, as well as developing award winning apps for Lazoo. Olexa returned to preschool television to supervise produce at Silvergate Media, working on the Emmy award wining Peter Rabbit series, based on Beatrix Potter’s children's books. Olexa has spent the past four years at Sesame Workshop, developing and producing original content in his role as Vice President of Development and Production. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children, and dog Churro.
