About
Olexa is a multiple Emmy award-winning animation producer and director. He has developed, directed and/or produced various animated television properties, focusing primarily on preschool content. He began his career as an animator at a boutique commercial studio in New York, Curious Pictures, working on short form projects for a variety of clients: Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, IBM and Kellogg. Long form content was the next logical step - and soon Olexa was hired as a lead animator on Nickelodeon’s first internal animation production, Blues Clues. Later Olexa moved between several projects within Nickelodeon, eventually serving as animator and director for Nick Jr.’s critically acclaimed series Little Bill, for which he received an Emmy award in 2004.
Subsequently Olexa joined the creative team behind Disney’s breakout hit Little Einsteins, serving as both creative and art director. He was intimately involved in developing the series concept, character designs and visual look of the show which seamlessly melded 2D & 3D animation, live action footage, photo real locations and famous works of art into a cohesive unified design.
Olexa served as the co-executive producer and creative director for the PBS Kids’ acclaimed preschool series Word World, which received four Emmy awards in 2008 and 2009. Olexa developed WordWorld for television; overseeing story development, visual design, animation and post production. Olexa also was a co-creator and producer of a pilot for Nick Jr. - Lolly and the Pipsqueaks.
Olexa currently is a supervising producer at Silvergate Media, working on the Emmy award wining Peter Rabbit series, based on Beatrix Potter’s children's books. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design where he received his BFA in Film and Animation. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
